Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of WMF Style Collection ChopsticksCustomer Review: Talk about expensive! Summary: 3 Stars
These chopsticks are not cheap, in fact they are about 100 times the cost of the cheap ones you buy. German Vs Chinese?! The chopsticks are rather plain and simple, not at all like the elaborate Japanese ones, which still cost less, so what are you getting? Well, I have to say the stainless steel rest is nice and the chopsticks do feel good in the hand. Would I recommend that you buy one? I don't think so, this product is overpriced and should cost at most around half of what it does now. One has to wonder what WMF was thinking, but I sure do like the box it came in... I must have paid for that and the little booklet. German Design at it's wackiest.
Description of WMF Style Collection ChopsticksStylish, sophisticated, and contemporary by design, these WMF Style Collection chop sticks are made from rich ebony wood and come with a high quality 18/10 stainless steel holder. This set makes a wonderful presentation for your favorite Asian meal, and matches its own WMF Asian Style collection counterparts, or will mix and match with your existing ethnic serveware pieces. Germany's WMF uses dark wood, brushed 18/10 steel, and white porcelain in its Style Collection--a line of serving dishes and utensils that factors in the changing ways in which we eat at home. It includes pieces specially designed for the enjoyment of Italian and Asian cuisines, such as a pizza knife and a set of sushi dishes. These chopsticks, though clearly intended for an Asian menu, are designed to mix and match with any of the other Style pieces. The signature asymmetry of the WMF Style line shows up in the chopstick rest. It's a flat lozenge designed to stand on its edge; a hooked notch carved into the center holds the points of the chopsticks up off the table. The chopsticks themselves are symmetrical, slightly square-edged wands of tropical, dark-stained hardwood. They are smoothly polished and feel strong in the hand, neither too heavy nor too flimsy. The WMF Style Collection also offers an Asian-style soup spoon and a set of three sushi dishes. The WMF chopsticks should be washed by hand in warm water with a mild detergent to prolong the life of the wood. Avoid using harsh abrasive cleansers or scrubbers on polished wood surfaces to protect its gloss. The chopsticks measure 9-1/4 inches long, and the steel rest is 1-3/4 by 1-1/4 inches. --Garland Withers
